Is misalignment something that can happen over time with the jumping hour . I absolutely love the watch but a few weeks ago after an international trip I noticed that the hour hand is not aligned correctly. For example at 1pm the hour hand will be between the 12 and 1. Some tolerate hour hand misalignments, others don’t. Personally, anything over a 1 minute misalignment really bothers me. I will note that both my 2500 PO and 8800 SMP Diver have noticeable hour hand misalignments. Is misalignment something that can happen over time with the jumping hour hand? Omega had some issues with the tightness of the hands on the post early on with the 8500's and 9300's. Many were fixed under warranty by either replacing the hands or tightening them.
I stopped the watch and circled the hour hand around the dial, noticing that it was aligned on some of the markers but wasn’t on others. I’m attaching a couple pictures I took this morning. My questions: Has anyone else had this problem? Here's some advice - Omega recommends that you set the hour hand on at 12 as usual. But before you set the minute hand on, turn the time backwards at least an hour, then creep back up to the 12, and then immediately install the minute hand - . I have seen this kind of slight hour/minute hand misalignment on many Omega's, especially in the Seamaster line. I used to work at an AD and you would be surprised at how common it is. Not just Omega, but other brands as well.
It keeps good time. And it feels normal when quick changing the hour. The misalignment seems pretty consistent all the way around the dial. It's almost like the hour hand slipped a bit on the pinion🤷🏻. I've never seen this before My cheaper Seiko's all aligned perfectly. Surprisingly, it was my most expensive watch, the SMPc that did not align correctly. The hour hand is slightly to the right of the 6' marker. I still have it under factory warranty. Yesterday I noticed a huge (20-30) minute misalignment in the hour/minute hands. When the hour hand is exactly on the hour marker, the minute hand is on the 20 minute marker. This means that the hour hand is behind the correct hour for about 20 mins each hour. The hour hand is misaligned with the hour indices. This is the case on several of the hour indices when the watch is turning in the clockwise direction. Take note that in the last photo the hour hand is perfectly lined up when the minute hand is at two minutes AFTER the hour.
